Year 6
Welcome to Year 6
This year your child will be working with Mr Bossons and Mrs Thornton.
Your child will continue to develop their English and Maths skills as well as studying various topics throughout the year. We have attached our class yearly overview for your information.
PE
PE days are going to be Tuesdays with Izzy from the Manchester United Foundation and Thursdays with Mr Bossons.
Children can come to school in their PE kit so they don’t need to get changed. PE kit is a white t-shirt, black shorts or joggers and black trainers/pumps.
Playtime & Snacks
Your child will receive a piece of fruit each day at morning break. If you wish your child to have milk, please order this from the office one half term in advance otherwise only water can be drunk. Toast is available at playtime.
Entrance to School
Classroom doors open at 8:40am. Pupils in Year 6 will enter through the Main Gate and can be picked up from the classroom door at 3:15pm.
Punctuality
The register is taken promptly at 8:45am. Please be on time.
If you are late to school, please take your child to the school office to register and explain why you are late. You will not be able to accompany your child to the classroom.
Reading and Homework
Reading
It is important that your child reads for 20 minutes every night, and their reading record book is completed to show this. We will keep records of the books your child has read in school.
Maths
A Maths homework sheet will be sent out every Monday and is expected to be completed and handed in by Friday morning. This homework should not take you child more than 20 minutes to complete and if your child is struggling with the work please see one of the Year 6 team.
School Uniform
Please remember to label your child’s uniform, especially their jumpers, cardigans and coats.
If you have any questions or worries, then please phone the office and they may be able to answer your concern or make a telephone appointment.
We hope your children will be very happy in Year 6, and we look forward to working with them. Let’s make this year one to remember!
